ComfyUI vs the cloud — my image-generation workflow

comfyuiai-artsdxlflux

When a client needs a portrait, a mockup or concept art — I almost always start with local ComfyUI. Here is why and how.

Why local

  • Control. ControlNet, LoRA, inpainting, exact seeds — cloud services either lack this or charge a lot for it.
  • Cost. My own RTX 4060 generates 1024×1024 in ~45 seconds. No credits per frame.
  • Privacy. The client's prompts and references do not go to someone else's servers.

Models for the task

  • SDXL / Juggernaut XL — art, anime, stylisation.
  • Flux (Dev / Kontext) — photorealism, product mockups, inpainting without regenerating the background.

A fallback so it never stalls

GPU busy or the PC off? The bot switches automatically:

  1. ComfyUI (local, highest quality) →
  2. Stable Horde (a distributed network) →
  3. Pollinations.ai (free, no GPU).

The client always gets a result — the only question is quality and speed.

An example from practice

For a photographer I built a workflow for product shoots — now they process 200+ photos a day automatically. That is the point: not a single picture, but a pipeline that saves hours.
